Dr. Tony Fernando is an Auckland-based psychiatrist and sleep specialist, with a medical degree from the University of the Philippines and training from the University of Pennsylvania. Recognised with multiple teaching awards from the University of Auckland and honoured by the President of the Philippines for his work in sleep medicine, he also received the NZ Medical Association's Chair's Award in 2015 for his focus on physician well-being. He earned his PhD on compassion in medicine in 2021. Dr. Tony teaches mindfulness to inmates and recorded meditations for prisons during COVID-19. His book Life Hacks from the Buddha was first published by HarperCollins in 2024.
